Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (m/w/d)

  • Spain, Spain

Want to understand what makes a large public cloud tick, solve demanding technical problems and turn your ideas into practical improvements? This role brings together Linux, networking and infrastructure automation, giving you the opportunity to help shape the platform’s technical evolution.

We are looking for Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineers for several locations across Spain.
A substantial proportion of the work can be carried out remotely.

Our client is an international IT and telecommunications provider that develops and operates cloud solutions for medium-sized businesses and large enterprises. At the heart of its offering is a powerful public cloud built on open technologies, with demanding requirements for security, data protection and availability.

What you will do

You will work on the technical foundations of a large public cloud built on open source community software and guided by DevSecOps principles. Lean structures, agile methods and highly motivated teams shape a dynamic engineering environment.

The goal is to deliver a secure, stable and innovative platform. Working with platform partners and the wider OpenStack ecosystem, you will help develop a public cloud that meets European security and data protection requirements.

This is an opportunity for engineers who are passionate about cloud technology and ready to tackle the challenges of developing and operating a public cloud at scale. You can expect deep insight into the platform’s inner workings, international collaboration, flat hierarchies and the freedom to take ownership of your work.

  • Shape the public cloud: Evolve the infrastructure behind a powerful public cloud and bring new approaches in cloud and container technology into production
  • Solve complex technical problems: Investigate challenging incidents, trace root causes across system boundaries and develop lasting solutions that go beyond the immediate fix
  • Get beneath the surface: Work directly at the Linux command line and analyse how operating systems, networks and low-level infrastructure components interact
  • Turn manual work into automation: Transform recurring operational tasks into repeatable workflows, using established automation frameworks to support reliable, scalable operations
  • Identify issues before they affect customers: Improve monitoring and quality assurance, uncover technical weaknesses and help ensure platform changes can be introduced reliably
  • Collaborate with fellow specialists: Solve demanding infrastructure challenges in an international team, share your expertise and contribute your own ideas to the platform’s development.
What you bring

You enjoy understanding how systems fit together, mastering complex infrastructure and making a tangible difference through thoughtful automation. Here, you can apply your cloud expertise in an environment that values technical depth, fresh ideas and collaborative problem solving.

  • A solid technical foundation: You hold a degree in a technical, engineering or scientific discipline, or have completed comparable vocational training
  • Substantial cloud experience: You bring five to seven years of IT experience, with a focus on modern cloud technologies
  • A deep understanding of networking: You have strong knowledge of software-defined networking, routing, firewalls and physical networks, including how these components interact
  • An automation mindset: You have extensive experience in infrastructure automation and know how to turn manual tasks into reliable, repeatable processes
  • Strong Linux expertise: You have substantial hands-on experience with Linux and network services, combined with a systematic and persistent approach to troubleshooting
  • Confidence with network protocols: You are familiar with BGP, DNS, SSH and HTTP/HTTPS
  • Sound technical judgement: You assess potential solutions critically, challenge existing approaches and find creative ways to tackle demanding problems
  • A clear customer focus: You combine technical quality with an understanding of what customers need from a reliable, high-performance platform
  • An agile approach to teamwork: You understand agile development processes and actively contribute your knowledge and ideas to shared solutions
  • Additional technical strengths: Ideally, you have worked with OpenStack, Ansible and Terraform, and are familiar with Docker, Kubernetes and container technologies
  • Fluent English: You communicate confidently in written and spoken English, whether explaining technical concepts or collaborating with international colleagues
  • An EU working location: You carry out your work within the European Union to meet customers’ data security and privacy requirements.
What you can expect

Combine deep technical work with the opportunity to put your ideas into practice on a large public cloud. You will work with open technologies, tackle challenging infrastructure problems and exchange knowledge with an international team of specialists.

  • Access to the inner workings of a public cloud: Gain direct insight into how a large cloud platform operates behind the scenes and contribute to its technical foundations
  • Ideas that make a difference: Put forward improvements and actively shape the development of the platform and its operational processes
  • A technically rewarding environment: Bring together Linux, networking and automation in an environment shaped by open source technologies and the OpenStack ecosystem
  • Collaboration built on trust: Join an international team whose specialists share their knowledge and support one another through open, constructive collaboration
  • Autonomy and short decision paths: Benefit from flat hierarchies, lean structures and a working culture that encourages initiative
  • Flexible remote working: Depending on your location and local arrangements, work from home for up to 80% of your working time
  • A role that fits your availability: The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with a permanent employment contract.
